About
I just defended my doctoral dissertation (Fall 2011) on Partition literature-- loosely termed for the literature that emerged during and post the Partition of India. I focus on liminal identities residing in border spaces who cross the discursive boundaries of class, gender and religion in the post-Partition subcontinent, ultimately rewriting the homogenous nation-state. Some of the writers whose texts I study are Intizar Husain, Joginder Paul, Saadat Hasan Manto, Ismat Chugtai and Qurratulain Hyder.
I also edit a literary journal (Cerebration.org) that strives to initiate a critical dialogue across borders and cultures. www.cerebration.org
